In 1998, Stafford Borough Council formed a partnership with 12 key service providers which addressed the large skills gap in the District and attracted inward investment needed to restructure the local economy. This commitment to raising economic prosperity has been maintained through different
political administrations at the Council and in the last five years has delivered a total investment of 6 million pounds, 538 new jobs and 123 new businesses.
Stafford's partnerships with the County Council, Staffordshire University and other public sector providers are an excellent example of what district councils can achieve without significant regeneration resources from central government.
