In August 2006 the Council received the Inspector's Binding Report on the Core Strategy Development Plan Document, following the Core Strategy examination which was held in June 2006. The Inspector's Binding Report recommended that the Core Strategy should not be adopted and should be withdrawn.
Background
The Core Strategy Development Plan Document sets out the overall planning policy approach for development in Stafford Borough for at least 10 years. All the other topic-based and site specific Development Plan Documents to be prepared in due course will be need to be in conformity with the Core Strategy Development Plan Document.
As part of the new planning system the Development Plan Document will pass through a series of stages in the preparation, production and adoption process. Whilst the Development Plan Document is being prepared it will be assessed in terms of sustainable development through the Sustainability Appraisal process.
