In drawing up Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) Local Planning Authorities must have regard to national planning policy. Currently there are Planning Policy Statements (PPSs), Planning Policy Guidance Notes (PPGs) and Planning Circulars covering a broad range of topics such as Housing, Green Belts and Transport.
