Freedom of Information Requests - April 2011 - March 2012

This webpage is a Stafford Borough Council initiative where we intend to post all Freedom of Information requests when we receive them. We are probably the only authority in the country to be doing it this way.

Many of the answers will also be posted although some will not for example the officer may reply directly to the person making the request, the information may have personal details which we think is inappropriate to publish or is exempt under data protection laws.

The FOI Act gives you the right to obtain information held by public authorities unless there are good reasons to keep it confidential. The council must respond to a request within 20 working days. If you want to make a request for information please fill in our Request Form

A request can also be refused if the time it takes an officer to locate, extract and retrieve the information exceeds 18 hours. But any refusal can be appealed initially through the council’s corporate complaints process. It can also be considered by the Information Commissioner.

In 2011/12 we received more than 395 individual requests this was approximately 1100 questions. The previous year there were 290 requests.
