Recycling and Waste - Special Collections for Large Items

If you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge etc you wish to dispose of, we offer the Special Collection for Large Items Service for which a charge will be made.

How can I dispose of bulky household items?

The council provides a separate collection service for bulky items for which there is a charge that changes annually. The current charge is £34.00 for up to three items, and there is a concessionary charge of £17.00 for those on Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Income Support.  Please contact us on 01785 619402 to book or for an application form. These items are collected on a pre-arranged day and items have to be at the front of the property for 07.00 am.

General points to follow:-

  • One Carpet must be manageable by 2 people, otherwise cut into pieces, rolled and tied.
  • Carpet does not include underlay. This is a separate item.
  • One wardrobe does not mean a full bedroom suite.
  • Items should not be filled with other rubbish.
  • Items must be easily accessible and at one point, not all over the property.
  • If 2 identical items on site but only one on request form, NONE of the items in question will be taken. (Paid service only)
  • Only items listed on booking form will be removed, any additions must be done on a separate request. (Paid service only)

  • Concrete Posts
  • Car/Motorbike Parts

  • Large Gates
  • Wire Fencing and Large Fire Surrounds
  • General Builders Waste

How can I dispose of other items?

You can take your household rubbish or items to either a local tip or Civic Amenity Site.
