Shropshire Union Canal Conservation Area

The Shropshire Union Canal Conservation Area was designated on 18th September 1984 by Staffordshire County Council. Within Staffordshire, the canal also runs through South Staffordshire District and Newcastle Borough. The document states that the area within the North Shropshire district is not within the conservation area, though since 1984 it has been fully designated. This means that the 'missing link' between Stafford Borough and Newcastle Borough is now complete, as a full uninterrupted conservation area.
