Stafford Leisure Centre has been granted Approved Coach Training Centre status by a variety of sports governing bodies, including the Amateur Swimming Association, Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) and the Swimming Teachers Association (STA).
These status awards recognise the quality of training at Stafford Leisure Centre and are a guarantee of the centre's continuing commitment to provide high-quality training courses such as RLSS Lifeguard, ISRM Pool Plant and much more.
All courses are tutor led with exam-based assessments. A study book and certificate are inclusive of the course fee. Please call for further details, bookings and availability of all courses.
A recognised ISRM qualification for anyone who is responsible for swimming pool water treatment or pool maintenance. Learn current health and safety legislation, how to promote good hygiene, effective pool water treatment management, and how to educate children in a simple effective pre swim routine.
A RLSS qualification for teachers to supervise programmed swimming lessons. Learn about class management and safety including pupil teacher ratios, pool discipline and effective supervision, how to identify potential hazards, and appropriate emergency action including resuscitation, first aid, and aquatic rescue techniques. Candidates must be able to swim 25m on front and back, and dive to a deph of 1.5m.
A STA accredited qualification for candidates to learn how to use a defibrillator and carry out basic CPR techniques. Learn how to assess a collapsed victim, perform chest compression and rescue breathing, and place an unconscious breathing victim in the recovery position.
Become a qualified lifeguard gaining the foundation module qualification. Learn lifesaving skills, basic first aid and aquatic rescue techniques, with exam-based assessment. Candidates must be able to swim a minimum of 50m and dive to a deph of 1.5m.
Provides candidates with the life skills of water safety and lifesaving. The programme addresses the requirements of the National Curriculum for Swimming and Water Safety; Outdoor and Adventurous Activity; Citizenship and Personal, Social and Health Education for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. Candidates must be able to swim 50m and tread water for 1 minute.
Provides candidates with an awareness of hazards associated with open water in addition to the practical skills of rescue and self-rescue. Candidates must be able to swim 25m on front and back, and tread water for 1 minute.
