Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment - This PPS sets out the Government's planning policies on the conservation of the historic environment and it replaces Planning Policy Guidance 15: Planning and the Historic Environment (PPG15) published on 14 September 1994; and Planning Policy Guidance 16: Archaeology and Planning (PPG16) published on 21 November 1990.

Planning Policy Statement 4: Planning for Sustainable Economic Growth - sets out the Government's comprehensive policy framework for planning for sustainable economic development in urban and rural areas. This replaces Planning Policy Guidance 4: Industrial, Commercial Development and Small Firms (PPG4) and Planning Policy Guidance 5: Simplified Planning Zones (PPG5) both published on 10 November 1992; Planning Policy Statement 6: Planning for Town Centres (PPS6) published on 21 March 2005; and the economic development sections of Planning Policy Statement 7: Sustainable Development in Rural Areas (PPS7) published on 3 August 2004.
West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy Phase 2 Revision Panel Report - Following the EiP, the Panel prepared a Report of findings and recommendations on the draft Regional Spatial Strategy. This Report was published on Monday 27th September.
The Secretary of State will consider the Report, together with representations made on the draft RSS, with the aim of publishing Proposed Changes by the end of 2009. There will then be a period of public consultation on the Proposed Changes, likely to last 12 weeks.
Following consideration of responses to the consultation on the Proposed Changes, the Secretary of State is expected to publish the final West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy Phase 2 Revision in mid 2010. You can view the report by clicking here
The Plan for Stafford Borough - Issues and Options. Stafford Borough Council consulted on 'Delivering the Plan for Stafford Borough - issues & options' document which set out where future development could go. It also set out how we can provide this development taking account of issues such as transport, community services, education and open space.

Sport and Recreation Facilities Strategies, Planning Policy Guidance 17 Assessment Consultation - This was a consultation on interlinked strategies covering indoor and outdoor sports facilities, parks and greenspace, playing pitches and children's play provision. Principle for Settlement Development - This consultation document set out the principle of and methodology for identifying settlements with future development potential within Stafford Borough. The consultation period closed on 1st August 2008. The document can be viewed online or as a PDF. A Revised Settlement Assessment also sits alongside the document to provide background information.
Planning Policy Statement 12: Local Spatial Planning - This Planning Policy Statement sets out the government policy on LDF's, explains local spatial planning and sets out how development plan documents should be prepared. The document replaces the previous Planning Policy Statement 12: Local Development Frameworks
Stafford and Stone Assessment of Services and Facilities. These are important evidence base documents which set out the level of services and facilities in Stafford and Stone. A similar assessment for the rural area was consulted on in January 2008. These documents will be updated in due course to take into account consultation responses. Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) Methodology. A SHLAA provides information on the opportunities that exist to meet the housing need within Stafford Borough. The Methodology for the SHLAA was consulted on in February 2008. Click here for further information.
Stafford Town and Stone Conservation Area Appraisal/Boundary Reviews. These reviews follow the first round of consultations that took place in 2007. For further information please click here.

West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy Phase 2 Submission Consultation. The partial review has now been submitted to the Secretary of State and published for public consultation starting on Monday 7th January 2008. For further details please click here.
