Stafford Borough Local Plan Review

In 2001 the Borough Council began the process of reviewing the Local Plan, consulting widely to obtain views on the existing Stafford Borough Local Plan. In November 2001 the Local Plan Review Issues Paper was published and publicised to highlight key issues and areas of decision making to be addressed in the next Local Plan.

Over 1,400 comments were received from 105 people representing national agencies and organisations, parish councils, local interest groups and individuals.

During the summer of 2002 a series of meeting were held at which Council Members considered the responses to the Local Plan Review Issues Paper, heard presentations on policy topics and discussed the emerging direction of the new Local Plan.

In September 2002 the Council Members agreed to follow the new Development Plan system outlined by the Government in the Planning Green Paper (December 2001).
