Older Persons Travel Pass

From 1 April 2008, the law regarding concessionary travel passes, or bus passes, has been changed. Now everyone, men and women, over the age of 60 is entitled to receive a pass from their local council which provides for free travel on local bus services throughout England and the pass has to be issued without any charge.

How can I apply for a Travel Pass?
Please request an application form or download a copy from the above link (please note this application form cannot be filled in online, please print off, fill in and return to:

What proof of identity do I require?
Applicants must produce a passport sized photograph plus proof of age and residence; eg :
- Birth Certificate/Passport/Driving Licence
- A Council Tax or a Utility Bill
When can I apply?
Anyone over 60 years of age may apply at any time. Residents nearing the age requirement may apply for a pass up to 28 days prior their 60th birthday.
Please note: The person applying for the bus pass must attend in person.
How much does it cost?
The pass is issued free of charge.
What do I do if my pass is stolen or lost?
If you lose your permit a replacement can be issued immediately. A new application, proof of identity and photograph are required. If you find your pass in the meantime please notify the office where you obtained the form.
