If your application is approved you will be issued with a card. Once you have this you can telephone the taxi contractor operating the scheme to book a taxi or you can hail in the street or use a taxi rank.

You will be given a maximum number of trips that you can take in a month. To be eligible you must:

  • Be unable or virtually unable to use buses or trains because of either blindness or permanent long-term disability/injury, which seriously impairs your ability to walk. The scheme is not available to people who suffer temporary disabilities (such as a broken leg)
  • Be able to use ordinary black taxis
  • Have access to a telephone (for booking taxis)
  • Be resident in Staffordshire.

At the end of your journey you pay the driver the fixed amount plus any amount over the total subsidy paid by us. You will also have to pay any 'extras' for weekend or night journeys and for additional passengers.
