You are welcome to apply for a postal or proxy application form if you are unable to go to your Polling Station on election day.

Anyone can now apply for a postal ballot paper. A simple application form is all you need to complete and return it to the elections office.

Things to Remember Postal Votes are sent out one to two weeks before election day. If your application is due to holidays please take this into account.

When a postal vote has been posted to you, you cannot vote in person at a polling station.

When applying for your postal vote you can request for just a one off application or apply to vote by post on a permanent basis.

Please remember to notify the elections office if you move house so arrangements can be made to alter your postal voting arrangements.

Applications should be made as soon as possible to ensure you do not miss out.

If you will be away from home and will not be able to receive your postal ballot paper and would prefer to appoint someone to vote on your behalf, you can appoint a proxy, this is someone, who does not have to be a relative.  That person will receive a letter to hand into your polling station and that will enable them to vote on your behalf.

If your proxy is unable to get to your polling station, if they contact the Elections office alternative arrangements can be made for them to vote on your behalf by post.

The deadline for receipt of new proxy applications is 11 working days before an election.

Alternatively you can pick up an application form from the Elections office or use the contact details above to request a form.
