Stafford Borough Council will provide support for the following types of project:

 

  • The purchase of land
  • The initial provision of accommodation and  facilities by purchase and / or construction
  • Extensions of existing accommodation facilities
  • Improvements to existing accommodation, including the provision of a new roof, a new floor or new heating where the need does not arise from neglect of maintenance.
  • The adaptation of existing buildings
  • Equipment of new or adapted buildings

Exclusions

 

·        Any schemes costing less than £250 will not normally qualify for grant aid consideration.

·        Grants will not be made on a retrospective basis, ie - work should not be commenced before a grant application is made and approved by the Council.

 

Total size of fund

 

£13,000 per annum

 

The Village Halls and Community Centre Fund is very popular, and demand for this funding is high.

 

Amount of Funding that can be applied for

 

Grants of up to a maximum of £200 may be made in respect of schemes having a capital cost of between £250 and £1000

 

Grants of up to a maximum of 20% of the estimated cost of the works may be made where this exceeds £1000. The total grant aid payable being subject  to a maximum of £5000 (all payments will be exclusive of VAT)

 

Applicants cannot, generally, make more than one application in any 12 month period.

 

How to apply for a grant

 

Complete and return the Community Centres and Village Halls application form, along with a copy of your constitution or the minutes of the last two meetings and your most recent audited accounts.

Applications will be dealt with through Community Services, Regeneration Service.

 

Applicants will be advised of a decision within1 month of receipt of application
