The Beach Patrol operates during the hours of popular use of the beach every day of the year. It's purpose is primarily to prevent accidents and patrols, clear the beach of people as the incoming tide approaches the sea wall.

Life saving equipment is inspected daily and maintained or replaced as necessary. The Patrol has a fully equipped rescue vehicle and is able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.
Liaison with the Police, Coastguard and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is maintained throughout the year and although not obliged to do so, members of the Patrol will enter the sea to help people in difficulties.
