Business Licences and street trading

The Licensing Service

The Licensing service is responsible for the administration and enforcement of  most of the Council's licensing functions. The small team of officers that provide this service are able to advise on all aspects of  local authority  licensing. These functions fall into 6 main categories:-.

There are other minor licensing functions such as game dealer licences and the licensing of sex establishments.

The functions are varied but all have in common the need to be licensed to undertake the activity and the need for regulation to ensure the terms of the licence are complied with.

Gambling Act 2005

The above legislation changes the way gambling is regulated in England and Wales.

The Act requires local authorities who will be responsible for licensing premises where gambling takes place to publish a statement of principles (policy) on how they will administer the new regulatory regime.

On the 11th January 2007 Stafford Borough Council published its' Statement of Principles issued under section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005.

The Statement of Principles will have effect from 8th February 2007.
