Stafford - Fairtrade Town

FT Town Logo

Stafford became the first FAIRTRADE Town in Staffordshire on 6th August 2003.  To become a FAIRTRADE Town Stafford has had to show that there is a real commitment to FAIRTRADE in all sectors of its community.

A resolution supporting FAIRTRADE was passed by Stafford Borough Council and strict criteria were met on the number of shops and cafés that sell FAIRTRADE products and businesses that use FAIRTRADE.  The Town has also had to show that it supports FAIRTRADE in other ways too, such as having a local FAIRTRADE group - ours is called Stafford Area Action for FAIRTRADE - and running events during FAIRTRADE Fortnight in March.

We are presently working on becoming a Fairtrade Borough and hope to achieve this soon.  You can help by letting us know if you use FAIRTRADE at your workplace, school, community or faith group, if you have raised funds or organised an event for Fairtrade or if you are a FAIRTRADE outlet.

For more information on Stafford's Fairtrade Town status contact Sebastian Pearce , Local Agenda 21 Assistant T: 01785 619408
