Stone Shopping and Business Guide

The traditional and bustling Market town of Stone is situated off the A34 in Staffordshire, just 8 miles from Stafford. Stone is steeped in a long and colourful history as a canal town, situated midway along the Trent and Mersey Canal.

On the first Saturday of every month, the popular Farmers Market visits the town, attracting many visitors looking for speciality produce. Throughout the year Stone also hosts various themed Markets such as the French, European and World Markets. The town Markets are also a regular feature in the High Street - visiting Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays

Stone is known as The Food and Drink Capital for a good reason, as the diverse choice of cuisine is excellent - offering a wide range of choice, form traditional home cooked food through to Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian and fine specialist dishes.

Adding to the vibrancy of Stone - various events take place throughout the year, including the Stone Festival held annually in June and the highly successful Food & Drink Festival which takes place in October.

Eccleshall

Eccleshall ...

Eccleshall is a small country town set in the depths of the Staffordshire countryside in the beautiful Sow Valley unspoiled by the passage of time.

Eccleshall too has its own castle formerly home to the Bishops of Lichfield

If there is such a place as middle England, then Eccleshall must surely be part of it. The 13th century church ringing out its welcome, the sound of leather on willow during the summer weekends. The wide variety of pubs, restaurants and take away establishments. Fifty of the most inviting shops catering for everyday and the special needs of our visitors. Over sixty organisations and 267 businesses flourish here.

On the main coaching routes through England, Eccleshall first made its name as a crossroads between the then major towns of our country and is still filled with former coaching inns providing travellers with rest and Sustenance.

Two annual shows The Tern Valley Vintage Vehicle Show and the Eccleshall

Show a traditional country show attracting visitors from miles around. A bi-ennial Festival which fills the town with events for nine actions packed days. A farmers market every fourth Saturday in the month filled with local produce. An open gardens weekend and a town centre alive with colourful blooms in the summer time.

The parish is crisscrossed by over 130 public footpaths maintained by the Parish council and detailed in a set of free leaflets.

A wonderful place to live, work and relax.
