The conservation service advises Development Control on planning applications affecting listed buildings and conservation areas. Advice is also given to owners that live in listed buildings or within conservation areas on aspects such as building construction or use of suitable materials for example. Applications are also assessed alongside the statutory development plan that includes Local Plan policies that cover the historic environment and national policy guidance covered in Planning Policy Statement 5: 'Planning for the Historic Environment and related Planning Circulars 01/01, 09/2005 and 01/2007.

Burton Manor Conservation Area On 2nd October 2008 Stafford Borough Council designated of a new "Burton Manor Village Conservation Area". Click here for a map of the designated area and further information.

Stone Conservation Area Appraisal The Stone Conservation Area Appraisal was adopted by Stafford Borough Council on 2nd October 2008. The boundary has also been slightly amended . Click here for a copy of the revised boundary plan, and here for a full copy of the document.

Stafford Town Centre Conservation Area Appraisal/Review The consultation for this document has now closed. The Appraisal is being referred to Council Members for approval.
