Employment - The Employment Land Review

Why has the Borough Council produced an Employment Land Review?

The Review is an important part of the 'evidence base' in the preparation of the Stafford Borough Local Development Framework (LDF), where it:

  • Assesses the continuing 'fitness for purpose' of existing employment sites, commitments and allocations;
  • Assesses the demand for, and supply of employment sites/land within the Borough;
  • Assists towards the identification of a portfolio of employment sites, and thereby the potential identification of employment land allocations (should the need for such such having been demonstrated); and
  • Provides mechanisms for facilitating future employment growth within Stafford Borough.

The Borough Council has undertaken the study in line with published guidance by the DCLG entitled 'Employment Land Reviews: Guidance Note' (published December 2004).

The final Employment Land Review documents have now been published. These documents have been prepared jointly between the Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council:

The consultation for the Draft Employment Review took place during May and June 2006, which closed on 12 noon on Friday 16 June 2006.
