Planning Services consists of four divisions: Development Control, Forward Planning, Building Control and Land Charges. Please see the links below for direct access to the individual services.

The Planning Portal web site at www.planningportal.gov.uk gives a wide range of guidance on planning issues and how to submit a planning application online.

Development Control

Plan

Development Control deals with the processing of planning applications, taking account of borough policies, development briefs, county policy guidance, national and regional government guidance and the merits of each individual scheme, in order to manage development within the borough, for the benefit of the public and the communities of Stafford Borough.

Forward Planning Team

Stone Canal

Responsible for Planning Policy in the borough and the preparation of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It provides policies to guide and encourage future development. Forward Planning is also responsible for development briefs and other guidelines and measures to protect, manage and improve the environment.

The Building Control ensure buildings are properly designed and constructed for the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people using them.
