GREEN FINGERED VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED
Link: Astonfields Balancing Lakes Local Nature Reserve
Work is being carried out this weekend to tidy up a local nature spot in the Borough.
People are being asked to help out at the 'Conservation Day' at Aston Balancing Lakes Local Nature Reserve on Sunday (March 9).
The Lakes is a ten acre site close to the centre of Stafford and volunteers are asked to meet at the Schott Glass building on Astonfields Industrial Estate.
The day is a joint venture by Stafford Borough Council and the 'Friends of Astonfields Balancing Lakes.' The 'Conservation Day' kicks off at 10am with volunteers planting wildflowers, helping with tree clearance work and removing litter from the area.
Work on this Local Nature Reserve is one of a number of council initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development and a better quality of life now and in the future.
Anyone interested in joining the volunteers should contact Bill Waller, the council's Biodiversity officer, on 01785 619676. Volunteers should wear sensible clothing and footwear. Tools will be provided.
