New Houses - Where Could They Go?

The Council is preparing a plan to establish where new housing development could be located in the Borough by 2026.

Each Council has been given a target number of houses which we must accommodate in our plans, but at this stage no decisions have been taken about where the new homes will be built. To make these decisions we need to gather information on all potential areas where new houses could be built in the future.

We have received a lot of comments and information in response to the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) - Initial Findings document and we will be publishing a final document in the new year. The SHLAA is one piece of evidence used to prepare the Plan for Stafford Borough.

The sites are in three categories:

1. Site Representations - these include land suggested to the Council by landowners, agents and developers. If you wish to view a map of the Borough showing these sites please click here.

2. Housing Assessment sites (Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment sites) - these show land within existing settlements where there may be space for additional housing. If you wish to view a map showing these sites please click here.

3. Housing Allocations & Commitments - these maps show sites which have already been given planning permission for housing but were not completed at the end of March 2008 and land previously allocated in the Stafford Borough Local Plan but have not yet been developed.
