Riverside Regeneration

Riverside Regeneration initiative

Riverside Regeneration proposals  Riverside Regeneration scheme

The Riverside Regeneration scheme comprises the site of the former Riverside Recreation Centre, the former Tesco store and multi-storey car park on Bridge Street.

The development, which is being taken forward by the Claymoss Group, will include a six screen multiplex cinema, a hotel with conference facilities, a major department store, a further 12 large retail units and 7 bars and restaurants.  Above this there will be around 330 one and two bedroom apartments and a 200 apartment sheltered housing scheme for the elderly.  The development will also provide parking for 1,200 vehicles.

The development is currently awaiting a decision on a planning application which is expected in November 2008.  The developer is also seeking to layout the site of the former Riverside Recreation Centre as a temporary car park as part of the overall regeneration scheme, subject to planning permission being granted.
