How Can I Avoid Getting a Parking Ticket?

Help us to help you park correctly.

 Remember to

Remember not to

  • Check the signs and lines applicable to the space you are using. Double yellow lines no longer require road signs to be enforceable.
  • Assume you can park because other people have
  • Ensure you have the latest copy of the Highway Code and know your signs and lines
  • Assume that you can stop for a short time on yellow lines
  • Make sure that a valid pay and display ticket or permit is clearly displayed on the windscreen or dashboard (where appropriate)
  • Assume restrictions don't apply on a bank holiday unless the sign says that bank holidays are free
  • Park within a marked bay where applicable

  • Carry loose change for the meters

  • If you are a blue badge holder ensure you display it correctly and know where you can and cannot park
