Victoria Park

See video of new designs for play area on Facebook.

Victoria Park is located on the Banks of the River Sow adjacent the Railway Station and is a Green Flag Award winning park.

The park was opened in 1908 and named the Victoria Park Pleasure grounds and the layout has changed very little since this time.

Victoria Park is situated within the Stafford Conservation Area. The War Memorial, an Alderman Mottran Shelter, and the nearby Broad Eye Windmill are all listed grade II structures. However, many other features of historic value survive, including bridges, bandstand, shelters, cast iron railings and gates, original ornamental park benches, millpond, wheel and sluice gates. There are also many features that have wildlife value and contribute to local biodiversity. The river is an important asset and a number of mature specimen trees give an excellent aesthetic value and habitat to the park.

Getting Involved
The Friends of Victoria Park are a voluntary community group who work with the Borough Council to ensure that the park meets the needs of its users.

The aim of the group is decided by the members, but includes, raising awareness of this key leisure site and organising events to promote the park. Victoria Park has served the community for 100 years and Stafford Borough Council wants the park to evolve and continue to be a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can meet to enjoy their leisure time.

Visit the Friends of Victoria Park website.

The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month. For further information please contact Roger Leverett on 01785 619 514, email
