Strategic Housing

The Housing Strategy Team is part of the Environmental and Health Service and is responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of Stafford Borough Council's Housing Strategy and the Homelessness Strategy. It also ensures that the National, Regional and Sub-regional issues that relate to housing are also addressed.

The team is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the strategies, identifying housing needs and developing policies and solutions to meet those needs, ultimately with the view of providing affordable housing for the people of Stafford Borough.

To implement these policies a number of partnerships and agreements have been adopted, maintained and adapted over the years. These partnerships and agreements will be developed over the coming years as the demand for affordable housing in the area changes.

As part of developing affordable housing sites in the area, we talk to private developers, and partner organisations such as Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) - more commonly known as Housing Associations. We also work closely with the Homes & Communities Agency, which is the regulatory body that monitors the Housing Associations.

Some developments have also included housing with support, for the more vulnerable people in society. These have been developed in partnership with the Staffordshire County Council.
