Fairtrade and Stafford Half Marathon and Fun Run
Stafford Half Marathon and Fun Run is just after national Fairtrade Fortnight so is an ideal time to promote Fairtrade at a large public event. Over the past few years Stafford Area Action for Fairtrade has been working with Stafford Borough Council to help promote Fairtrade at the Half Marathon and Fun Run. In 2008 SAAFT gave out 2,500 Fairtrade Bananas, donated by Midlands Cooperative Society, to the runners and we had runners in botht he Half Marathon and the Fun Run - we hope to do even better this year. Our bright yellow T-shirts and giant running bananas have become a feature of the event.
A few of Team SAAFT also enter the Stafford Borough Pancake Race in 2007.

Supporting Team SAAFT
Even if you don't feel up to taking part in the run you can still come along and support Team SAAFT. Come along on Sunday 15 March to Market Square to see the Half Marathon start and finish and the whole of the Fun Run take place. Alternatively help line the route and cheer on the runners. Why not get a big banana and wave it or dress all in yellow.

Some of the runners also raise sponsorship for Fairtrade causes so if you know of anyone who is doing this give generously or pop a donation into the box at the Team SAAFT stall.
