The Examination

The Core Strategy Examination process has now closed. For further information about this closure please view the following letter from the Planning Inspectorate, received on Friday 7 July 2006.

In August 2006 the Council received the Inspector's Binding Report on the Core Strategy Development Plan Document, following the Core Strategy examination which was held in June 2006. The Inspector's Binding Report recommends that the Core Strategy should not be adopted and should be withdrawn. Hearing Sessions for the Independent Examination for the Core Strategy Development Plan Document took place during June 2006.

The Examination was formally opened on Friday, 10 March 2006 by Mr David Fenton BA Hons MSc DipTP MRTPI, the independent Inspector appointed by the First Secretary of State to conduct the Examination.

Preparing for the Examination

At the Pre-Examination meeting the Council agreed to provide a response to relevant representations, to assist those preparing for the Examination. In addition the Council has also made available a self assessment paper and four topic papers.

Following the Exploratory Meeting held on Tuesday 7 March 2006 the Council has prepared a revised version of the Submission Core Strategy DPD which addresses the Government Office's concerns.
