Tree Preservation Orders in the Borough for any works to protected trees. Many trees are subject to Tree Preservation Orders in the Borough. Consent is needed for any works to protected trees or to trees in Conservation Areas.
Stafford Borough Council has in excess of 500 Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and this number increases every year by the issue of new orders as well as reviewing old ones. The Council also has 30 Conservation Areas in which trees are afforded a similar degree of protection.
As an authority we deal with over 230 applications for works to hundreds of protected trees every year.
Trees are an important element in sustaining life within the Borough and by increasing the scale of tree and woodland cover we can improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Trees also play an important part in the image of the Borough which helps to boost the economy and increases the attractiveness of the Borough to new businesses.
Details of whether particular trees are included in an Order or are within a Conservation Area may be obtained by calling 01785 619337.
