Business Recovery Grants

    Stafford Borough businesses have accessed nearly £200 million in business grants and loans. Our grants bulletin outlines how we have distributed our funds to the various business sectors.

    As lockdown restrictions are lifted there now remains 3 funding streams as detailed below for eligible businesses.

    Start-Up Grants

    £500,000 has been set aside of Additional Restriction Grant funding to support start-ups.

    Stafford Borough Residents looking to start a business can now apply for a grant of up to £5,000 in the latest round of funding. A team of business advisors will be on hand to help applicants as part of the process. More information can be found here along with the application process.

    Start-Up Grant - This fund will close for applications on 30 September 2021

    Karen Woolley, Development Manager for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) said:

    “It’s great to see Stafford Borough Council yet again stepping up to the plate to help those wishing to start their own business. The past 18 months has been extremely challenging for many small businesses, especially those in the hardest hit sectors such as hospitality and leisure, and this fund will prove a lifeline for new start-ups.”

    Hospitality and Leisure Grants

    £500,000 has been set aside of Additional Restriction Grant funding to support the hospitality sector.

    Grants of up to £5,000 will be available to businesses in the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure sector who have plans to develop and grow their businesses in 2022. The purpose of the grant is to increase visitor numbers to venues that provide in person services.

    Applications will be open from 20 September 2021 through to 1 March 2022. Further information and how to apply with be announced over the next few weeks.

    Rural Business to Business Funding 

    Grants will be available to eligible businesses in rural areas who have plans to develop new products and services to support their recovery. Expressions of interest will be invited from the following sectors:

    • Manufacturing
    • Wholesale
    • Construction
    • Logistics, storage, transport
    • Professional, scientific and technical services
    • Information and communication
    • Agriculture, forestry and fishing
