Business Recovery Grants

    Stafford Borough businesses have accessed nearly £200 million in business grants and loans. Our grants bulletin outlines how we have distributed our funds to the various business sectors.

    As lockdown restrictions are lifted there now remains 3 funding streams as detailed below for eligible businesses.

    Rural Business to Business Funding 

    Grants of between £2000 and £10000 are available to eligible businesses in rural areas who have plans to develop new products and services to support their recovery. Applications will be open from 1 November 2021 to 14 December 2021.  An expression of interest is available to those interested.  At full application businesses will need to evidence a loss in turnover due to the impact of Covid-19 and also provide a snapshot of their forward plans to grow their business.

    Sectors given priority under this fund will be:

    • Manufacturing, wholesale, construction, logistics, storage, transport
    • Professional, scientific and technical services, information and communication
    • Agriculture, forestry and fishing, environmental

    Amanda Gray, owner of Raleigh Hall Industrial Park in Eccleshall, said: “Many of our rural firms in manufacturing, wholesale, professional services were unable to access some of the mandatory government grants however they too had suffered as a consequence of their customer base being mandated to close or by delays in the supply chain.  

    “As they shift from response to recovery and rebuild their business models it’s important to support their growth paths and this funding made available by Stafford Borough Council will provide much needed financial support.”

    Business Grant Applications Privacy Notice

    Hospitality and Leisure Grants

    £500,000 has been set aside of Additional Restriction Grant funding to support the hospitality sector.

    Grants of up to £5,000 are available to businesses in the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure sector who have plans to develop and grow their businesses in 2022. The purpose of the grant is to increase visitor numbers to venues that provide in person services.

    Applications will be open from 20 September 2021 through to 1 March 2022.

    Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Stafford Showground Limited, said: “This last year has been particularly difficult for our fantastic hospitality, tourism and leisure sector and they have had to survive the toughest of times. This announcement is great news and a very welcome boost, putting the sector in a better place to focus on activities to attract visitors back in 2022. The provision of additional funding will play a leading part in continuing to save local jobs and businesses.”
