Housing Advice - How your mortgage lender can help you

If you talk to your mortgage lender they may decide not to start repossession court action straight away. Instead they may decide to:

    • Agree to change or lengthen the term of your loan
    • Accept reduced payments from you in the short term
    • Add your arrears to the amount borrowed
    • Reduce your monthly mortgage payments for a certain period
    • Cut the charges they make to you for being in debt with your mortgage
    • Spread repayment of the total amount you owe
    • Offer you a better loan rate
    • Allow you time to sell your home if it is what you want

If you are struggling with your mortgage payments, please always contact your mortgage lender first for help.
