Dancing in the Street

    Dancers in market square

Singing, dancing and street theatre will be coming to Stafford as part of a festival to celebrate the town’s position on the world’s stage.

Stafford in the World is now in its fourth year and will take place in the town’s Market Square, on Saturday 25 May.

The event is organised by Stafford Borough Council and celebrates the huge variety of links that the county town has with many different parts of the world. Organisations from the voluntary sector will also be taking part on the day, such as Staffordshire Women’s Aid and the local Lions Club - and the council has urged other groups to get in touch if they want to be involved.

Thousands of people are expected to come into town to see what is on offer and take advantage of what charities, business and community groups have to showcase.

The festival has grown in popularity year on year with around 20 organisations attending in 2018 including Perkins Engines - whose engines power the flood defences on the Seine in Paris and provide prime power for the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Chernobyl Children’s Project and Soroptimist International.

Councillor Jeremy Pert, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Stafford has many connections around the globe from both within the commercial world as well as the voluntary sector - some that everyone will be aware of and others that may come as a surprise to the community.

This festival provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the breadth of what we have to offer wrapped up in a day of fun and activities for all the family.  And there is still an opportunity for any business or group to get involved as we want to showcase the very rich tapestry that Stafford-life has to offer and I would encourage anyone to contact the Borough Council at the earliest opportunity.”

Marquees will be open from 9am with performances throughout the day.
