Victoria Park in Stafford will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend with real ice rink, polar bar and Santa’s grotto.
The rink has started to take shape with the first skaters due to take to the ice on Saturday (27th).
The team behind the Great British Drive in at Sandon, who run Alberts Café in the popular park, have been working alongside Stafford Borough Council, to bring the attractions to the area.
The inaugural Christmas in the Park will include:
- Ice Rink - under cover and with themed event nights planned and private booking available
- The Polar Bar - providing a range of festive cocktails, mulled wine, steins of beer and hot chocolate.
- Street food – provided by Digbeth Dining Club and
- Santa’s Grotto, craft markets and live music
The gates will open on Saturday with hundreds of tickets already sold for the ice rink and are available from Alberts Cafe website.
The event is a partnership between the borough council and The Great British Experience Company, the team behind Alberts and The Great British Drive In, with the support of the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
Councillor Carolyn Trowbridge, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the borough council said: “This is going to be fantastic. What a brilliant way to help celebrate the Christmas period with a winter wonderland brought to the heart of our county town in the wonderful Victoria Park.
“This is another great reason for people to come into our great county town.”
Victoria Park received a £2.5m National Heritage Lottery funded restoration last year and retained a ‘Green Flag’ as one of the best parks and open spaces in the UK.
Christmas at the Park is open every day, except Christmas Day, until 2 January.
