Unsung heroes in Stafford Borough had a night in the spotlight at the Community Awards.
Shortlisted organisations and volunteers packed into the Rising Brook Baptist Church in Stafford for the annual Borough Council run event which is now in its third year.
The awards recognise the efforts of local people, businesses, schools and other groups that help to improve community wellbeing.
Winners on the night included Stafford Litter Heroes, and 10 year old community fundraiser Imani Al-Khaldi. Around 25 nominees were invited to the ceremony, opened by the Mayor of Stafford Borough, Councillor Gareth Jones.
The Awards are open to all people, groups and organisations operating within the borough with projects that have taken place within the last 12 months.
BBC Radio Stoke’s Lamont Howie hosted the awards on Thursday evening (21 November) with awards being presented by the Mayor, and Chief Executive of Staffordshire Women’s Aid, Dickie James.
Borough Council Chief Executive, Tim Clegg, said the night had been all about celebrating those who make a difference in the community.
He said: “The room was packed with people who care about where they live. People who do practical things which help and inspire others. Most of all they want to make our community a better place.
“It was a night to celebrate all those groups and individuals whose work will often go unnoticed and also to thank those who recognised their efforts by nominating them for an award.”
