A popular event that aims to showcase Stafford’s position on the world’s stage makes a return to the county town this summer.

And organisers are asking businesses and organisations who want to display their global credentials to get in contact to be a part of the day.

Stafford in the World is now in its sixth year with the event taking centre stage in the town’s Victoria Park this June.

The day is expected to include singing and dancing performances with a host of stalls aimed at celebrating the wide variety of links the town has with many different parts of the globe.

Last year the Stafford Borough Council event attracted thousands of people who came to see what was on offer and take advantage of what charities, business and community groups had to share. There was also a celebration of the Commonwealth Games which took place in the Midlands with events such as boxing and table tennis represented.

This year the giant Staffordshire Carbon Bubble is expected to visit the event on its tour of the county to highlight the impact of carbon emissions on daily activities. The 10-metre bubble installation will be accompanied by advice and tips to help residents understand what they can do to reduce their own carbon footprint.

The festival has been more popular with visitors each year with around 20 organisations attending in 2022. They included Stafford Welcomes Refugees, Mbedza Projects - which tackles poverty reduction in Malawi, and Soroptimist International.

Deputy Leader, Councillor Jeremy Pert, the Cabinet Member for Communities and Health, said: “This is a wonderful day of celebration with music and dance alongside some great local organisations.

“Our county town has an amazing variety of unknown connections around the globe and this day is a fantastic opportunity to showcase them. I hope businesses, charities and other local organisations will get in touch and be part of the event. The greater variety the better.”
