The trial of a national nursery operator charged in connection with an incident in which a 23-month-old boy lost part of his thumb in Stafford will go ahead in 2027.
Kids Planet Day Nurseries Limited pleaded not guilty to a charge under Health and Safety laws when they appeared before Stafford Crown Court this week (Wednesday 8 October).
The charge relates to their nursery at Lammascote Road, Stafford when the toddler had his thumb trapped in a door at the premises in May last year. It is alleged the nursery failed to put in suitable control measures in respect of finger entrapment and trips and falls involving the main access door - contrary to The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
The case has been brought by Stafford Borough Council with the trial date being set for the 18 January 2027.
Kids Planet are registered at Lymm, Cheshire, and have more than 200 nurseries across the UK.
