PUBLIC SPACES PROTECTION ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Stafford Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 59 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Police Act 2014 and all other enabling powers, and following a public consultation made a Public Space Protection Order on 22 November 2023.

The purpose of the Public Space Protection Order, which take effect on the 7th day of December 2023, is to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour in the restricted areas. The Order sets out the prohibitions relating to the Restricted Areas located within the Borough of Stafford and contains maps identifying the Restricted Areas.

The existing Public Space Protection Order currently in force will be revoked once the new order takes effect.

Copies of the Public space Protection Order and accompanying maps showing the Restricted Areas may be inspected free of charge on Monday to Thursday between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm, and between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Friday, at the Civic Centre, Riverside, Stafford, ST16 3AQ until the 7th day of December 2023.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Public Space Protection Order Orders, or of any provision contained within it, on the grounds that Stafford Borough Council did not have the power to make the Order or to include particular prohibitions or required imposed by the Order or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Public Space Protection Order, may, within six weeks from the 22 November 2023 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
