The Council regularly promotes green issues across the whole of the Stafford Borough community. We have now started to run events at the Council, roughly every 18 months, to raise awareness of how the Council, along with many of its partners, is actively protecting the environment and promoting sustainability through its normal business.
Eco and Active Day - 25 September 2014
The event was a lively showcase of environmental and sustainable development activity being carried out by the Council, including with partner agencies, and this time we broadened out the day's activities to include our work relating to promoting and supporting good health.
Our theme shaped up around the snazzy title of 'Eco and Active' focussing on green issues and active, healthy lifestyles. We tied the event in with some existing campaigns, namely Car Free Day on Monday 22 September and World Environmental Health Day on Friday 26 September.
Eco Day (and a half) - its a jungle in here -
10 to 11 March 2013
We held our first Eco Action Day (and a half) in March 2013. The event aimed to raise awareness of how the Council is actively protecting the environment and promoting sustainability through its normal business. It coincided with national 'Climate Change Week' and 'Fairtrade Fortnight' and involved departments and teams from right across the Council. This was the first of what we hope will be ongoing 'Eco-Days' to share our good practice and to promote cross departmental working on sustainability issues.
People made it safely past spiders and bats, survived the Fairtrade cakes and buns, visited Dr Bike, had a trip to the roof to see the solar panels, potted pumpkin seeds, networked with colleagues and discovered just how much eco-activity is taking place at the Council.
