Sir Edward Elgar The Spirit of England

The work for chorus, soprano soloist and organ is in three movements and was composed between 1915 and 1917. The work acts as a requiem for the dead of World War 1 and is dedicated “to the memory of our glorious men, with special thought for the Worcesters”. A contemporary reviewer wrote “contains some of his most vigorous and inspiring, if not some of his most inspired work.”

Sir John Rutter Requiem

Sir John is celebrating his 80th birthday this year. His Requiem composed in 1985 is much loved by choirs. It has seven movements that blends Latin Requiem Mass Texts with English text from the book of the Common Prayer and Psalms.
