Time ticking away if you want to vote in county by-election

There is still time for people to register to be able to vote in a by-election for a seat on Staffordshire County Council.

The last day to register to be able to take part in the Eccleshall and Gnosall by-election is Tuesday 1 July and residents can find out how by going to www.staffordbc.gov.uk/how-do-you-register-to-vote

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday 2 July with more information from Elections - Voting | Stafford Borough Council (staffordbc.gov.uk)

There will be 16 polling stations open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 17 July across the Eccleshall and Gnosall Division for nearly 11,000 electors to cast their vote.

People will need to bring photographic identification with them to vote at a polling station - such as a UK passport, Driving Licence, or disabled blue badge. A full list of acceptable identification can be found at Voter ID | Electoral Commission

But people who do not have the identification have until 5pm Wednesday 9 July to apply for a free ‘Voter Authority Certificate’ at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.

The by-election on Thursday 17 July is being held following the resignation of a councillor.
