An award-winning park in Stafford is launching a fun weekend for families this bank holiday weekend.

There will be music, dancing, theatre and food stalls on offer at the ‘Big Weekend’ in the town’s Victoria Park.

Things get underway on Saturday (26th) with the annual bowls match with the Mayor of Stafford Borough, Councillor Andy Cooper - before he officially opens the two-day event at midday. On the day there will be fairground rides and bouncy castle along with a climbing wall, face painting and balloon modelling.

A number of community groups will be displaying their work around the historic park with the entertainment due to wrap up at 5pm.

And the Sunday will see various DJs playing reggae, ska, and blues from the bandstand on the park from noon until 4pm. There will also be fairground rides, bouncy castle and food and drink available.

Councillor Gillian Pardesi, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Stafford Borough Council, said they were hoping for good weather to celebrate a great bank holiday weekend.

“There is something for everyone over the two days in our beautiful Victoria Park and I hope families and visitors will take advantage of what we have to offer - whether listening to live music, watching the performances, or finding out more about what our community groups are doing in the borough.

“As with all these outdoor events we are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us and those taking part across the bank holiday weekend.”

Victoria Park retained its national award - the Green Flag - as one of the best parks and open spaces in the country.
