Victoria Park - Restoration Updates

The renovation work in the park has progressed successfully over the summer months. As the construction work nears conclusion we have begun the important work to restore the flower beds and pathways and establish new planting across the park. The work is scheduled to be completed in the Autumn and we look forward to welcoming the public back into the park to enjoy the new facilities.

The bandstand steps and stage are nearing completion creating an elevated outlook across the new events space toward the restored Mottram Shelter.

The new Café decking and railing has been completed and the sedum green roof has been installed. Landscaping and tidy up of the construction site is taking place plus the finishing touches to the amphitheatre area.

Painting and fit out has continued in the thatched toilet block, which will include the Park Office and accessible WC.

The new Education Room will be a useful new facility for the park and will provide a versatile teaching space.  It is linked to the new greenhouse, existing Glasshouse and new Aviaries by an attractive pergola which also creates a useful outdoor space.  The Glasshouse will feature an interactive information screen which will include information about the history of the park.

New interpretation boards are due to be installed across the park to provide the visitor with information about the wildlife, ecology and history of the park.

To get involved in planning future events and volunteering opportunities in the park please get in touch via the contact details below.  With the support of our Friends Group we are hoping to set up the Victoria Park Online Forum which will give local people the chance to share their views and get more involved in maintaining and improving the park for future generations.
