Business Rates - How to Pay

Your bill is issued with a maximum of 12 instalments - payable monthly (as required by the law governing Business Rates). Details of how to pay are shown on your Business Rates Bill.

Please note that the Civic Centre does not offer a cash receipting service, please make your payment using one of the other methods detailed below.

    By Direct Debit

Direct Debit is recommended to all our customers, as this is the most efficient method of payment. Instalments are automatically collected from your Bank or Building Society as they fall due so there is no paperwork to bother with once it is set up. You will always be informed of the amounts due well in advance of your monthly instalments giving you time to query them if necessary.

The Council offers businesses a choice of dates for Direct Debit: 3rd, 10th, 17th or 24th of the month.

To set up a paperless Direct Debit or to obtain a Direct Debit form, telephone the Business Rates helpline on 01785 619282, or email revenues@staffordbc.gov.uk

    Credit and Debit Cards

You can pay either over the Internet using our on-line payments facility or by telephoning our automated telephone payment line on 0161 621 4111 or 01785 619271.

You will need your Account Reference Number, your card details and the amount you wish to pay.

Payments may take up to 2 working days to be credited to your Business Rates account.

Please note there is a minimum transaction amount of £10.00.

Through your Bank or Building Society

Please quote your Account Reference Number, the Council's Account Number 10841706 Barclays Bank plc, Stafford, Sort Code 20-81-18.

Please note payments may take up to 10 working days to credit your  Business Rates account.
