Autumn 2022 the Borough Council invited residents interested in creating a Climate Change and Green Recovery Community Panel to apply to become a member.
The Climate Change and Green Recovery Community Panel now has 16 members, meets bi-monthly in the Civic Centre and is key to supporting the Borough Council in ‘Community Engagement’.
All members of the panel are residents in the borough, and all have a common belief in the power of communities to come together to help themselves, their children and to shape the future of Stafford. Panel members are all active in their communities, and with one voice, send out a ‘Call to Action’ to all community groups to highlight their contribution to sustainability - Climate Change and Green Recovery Community Panel - Meet the Members
Climate Change strategy and the role of communities
The new ‘Climate Change Strategy’ can be found on Sustainability and Climate Change, and communities play an important part.
There are 5 pillars to the strategy with Community Engagement being one.
These five pillars will enable the work of the council to have the most meaningful impact:
- Corporate Assets and Housing
- Transport and Waste
- Community Engagement
- Business Engagement
- Sustainability Education
Community Map
The Community Map (pdf 774kb) locates some of Stafford Borough’s extremely active community groups and illustrates some of the fantastic work undertaken by community volunteers. If your community group is not on the map please contact climatechange@staffordbc.gov.uk with a contact name, the kind of community work you do and ask for inclusion on the map.
Events
Up and coming events including, ‘No Planet B’, Friends of Victoria Park Fun Day, ‘Bat Walks’, Wild flower identification walks, Repair Café’s, Farmer’s Market, Litter Picks, tree planting, and more. These will be posted on the Stafford Borough Council Event page and also Visit Staffordshire.
