Call for Local Green Space Sites - Consultation

Call for Sites Local Green Space (LGS)

Local Green Space designation is a way to provide special protection for green areas of particular importance to local communities.

Designating any Local Green Space will need to be consistent with local planning policy for sustainable development in the area. In particular, plans must identify sufficient land in suitable locations to meet identified development needs.

The Local Green Space will need to meet the criteria set out in paragraph 102 of the National Planning Policy Framework.

When submitting a site, please ensure that the site forms the setting of features indicative of significance to the local community, are no more than a maximum size of 30 hectares, within 300 metres of the community it serves and is not subject to an extant planning permission.

A Guidance Note (pdf 137kb) has been produced which provides further information of the requirements for designation.
