New Local Plan: Settlement Assessment and Settlement Profiles - Consultation

The consultation has now closed and ran from 18 July 2018 and ended at 12 noon on Tuesday 18 September 2018.

The purpose of this report is to establish the methodology for the settlement hierarchy, to ensure that sustainable locations for new development are identified. Establishing a Settlement Hierarchy is arguably one of the most important ways the Local Plan can contribute to sustainable development.

In accordance with national policy this report sets out the methodology the Council intends to use to assess the villages in the Borough in terms of availability of services and facilities access to employment opportunities and level of public transport provision.

The Settlement Profiles provide further information linked to the Settlement Assessment, which sets out the proposed settlement hierarchy for Stafford Borough. It is important to note that the assessment of the settlements is based on a snap shot in time of services and facilities, including the availability of public transport routes and may be subject to change in the future.

It is important to note that these documents do not allocate land for development.
