If you are concerned about high heating bills and warmth levels in a property that you rent, it is best to first speak with your landlord to see what you can agree. From April 2018 there is a new law to ensure that privately rented homes meet basic energy efficiency requirements. Under new ‘Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards’ (MEES) legislation, landlords cannot grant a new lease for a property with an Energy Performance rating below ‘E’. Warmer Homes Stafford can advise landlords or tenants about the help and grants that are available to support home heating and insulation improvements and repairs. Call 0800 677 1785 or email email@example.com.
There are a wealth of hints and tips about keeping warm at winter and how to reduce your fuel bills available at the Save Your Energy Stafford Area website
The Council has produced a Statement of Intent setting out how it proposes to use the Flexible Eligibility element of the Energy Company Obligation to support and assist fuel poor households and those at risk from cold homes.
