    Collective Energy Switching

This not-for-profit community project aims to, through the power of group buying, negotiate with the fuel companies for a lower price for home energy deals for gas and electricity.  If you want to know more about the scheme, please visit the Cheaper Energy Together Website.

The community bulk oil buying scheme

The Community Council of Staffordshire may be able to help you to reduce the cost of heating your home with their Community Bulk Oil Buying Scheme.  The idea of the scheme is that the Community Council will negotiate the best price on your oil by grouping together orders from other individuals and businesses.  If you want to know more about the scheme, please visit the Community Council's website.

    Concerns about rented properties

If you are concerned about high heating bills and warmth levels in a property that you rent, it is best to first speak with your landlord to see what you can agree.  From April 2018 there is a new law to ensure that privately rented homes meet basic energy efficiency requirements.  Under new ‘Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards’ (MEES) legislation, landlords cannot grant a new lease for a property with an Energy Performance rating below ‘E’.  Warmer Homes Stafford can advise landlords or tenants about the help and grants that are available to support home heating and insulation improvements and repairs.  Call 0800 677 1785 or email advice@mea.org.uk.
