Latest funding offers for homeowners
The Staffordshire Warmer Homes partnership, which includes Warmer Homes Stafford, has recently secured government funding.
The £150m Warm Homes Fund established by National Grid can help you get your home connected to the gas mains and have a brand new fully funded central heating system installed in your home.
You could be eligible if you claim benefits or tax credits (including Universal Credit), have low or no income, are disabled, are elderly, have very young children, or are currently unemployed.
The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme can help eligible households to receive funding for renewable heating systems and energy efficiency measures within their home. Your property must have a rating of E, F or G on a registered Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), you must either receive a means tested benefit, or, have a household income of less than £30,000 per annum.
The scheme is completely free if government eligibility criteria are met.
Further information on eligibility criteria can be found on the Staffordshire Warmer Homes website.
Measures under this scheme can include (but are not limited to) cavity wall and solid wall insulation, air source heat pumps and smart heating controls.
This scheme is available for a limited time only; installations must be completed on eligible applications by 31 March 2021.
Stafford Borough Council does not have the facility to take or make applications. Applications into the Green Homes Grant scheme MUST be made via Staffordshire Warmer Homes website or by contacting Warmer Homes Stafford.
Latest funding offers for landlords
The Green Homes Grant is also available to landlords with property in England.
Landlords can apply for a voucher to fund up to 2/3 of the cost of hiring tradespeople to upgrade the energy performance of your property (up to a maximum contribution of £5,000).
You can use the Green Homes Grant to help fund the installation of energy efficiency and low carbon heating improvements.

Concerns about rented properties
If you are concerned about high heating bills and warmth levels in a property that you rent, it is best to first speak with your landlord to see what you can agree. From April 2018 there is a new law to ensure that privately rented homes meet basic energy efficiency requirements. Under new ‘Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards’ (MEES) legislation, landlords cannot grant a new lease for a property with an Energy Performance rating below ‘E’. Warmer Homes Stafford can advise landlords or tenants about the help and grants that are available to support home heating and insulation improvements and repairs.
