May 2026

The Averill Road entrance works are now complete and the road has reopened, marking an important milestone in the ongoing improvements at Rowley Park.

Resurfacing of the 3G pitch is scheduled for Summer 2026, ensuring the facility remains high quality and well used by the community.

Works on the first phase of the boundary pathway are planned for Autumn 2026, improving accessibility and connectivity around the park.

Designs for the new play area will also be published soon, with construction expected to begin in Autumn 2026 as part of the wider investment in the park’s redevelopment.


The vision

The masterplan enhances Rowley Park Sports Stadium and transforms the wider green space into a welcoming, inclusive and exciting destination for everyone in the community.

Our goal is to deliver:

  • a flagship play space suitable for all ages and abilities
  • improved sport, leisure and outdoor event spaces
  • more opportunities for active, social and family-friendly recreation

What happens next

We are set to invest over £1 million in Phase 1.

Phase 1 works will also include:

  • inclusive destination play area
  • learn to ride area
  • woodland planting
  • pathways
  • breakout spaces
  • green gym equipment

Phase 1 is set to be completed during 2027.

Further phases will include:

  • cycling pump track
  • wheeled sports area
  • obstacle course
  • car park improvements
  • ‘Changing-Places’ facility
  • enhanced and additional pathways and lighting  
  • additional planting
  • new community sports hub and changing rooms
  • new public toilets
  • community garden
  • tennis courts
  • improved multi use games area
