Information for Private Landlords / Letting Agents

The Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026

Phase 1 of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 commences on 1 May 2026.

The government has published the Renters' Rights Act Information Sheet 2026 together with accompanying guidance that landlords must give to existing tenants to help understand the major changes brought in by the Act.

If you are a landlord and have a letting agent who manages the property on your behalf, then the agent must also provide the Information Sheet to the tenant, even if you have also provided it.

You must give this Information Sheet by 31 May 2026, or you could be fined up to £7,000.

For further information, please see The Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026 (gov.uk)
