Walking

Walking Is More Than Just Physical Exercise

Physical inactivity can increase social isolation, reduce independence and diminish physical and mental health.

Lockdowns and social distancing restrictions have prevented many people, particularly those who have been shielding or self-isolating, from participating in activities that support their health and wellbeing or from fully engaging with their communities.

Walking is free and you can choose to do it at your own pace, with someone else or in a group. You may be trying to gain or build confidence to go for a walk, or want to explore Stafford Borough and find varied, beautiful routes on your doorstep. This webpage is intended to direct you to information and support; to help engage and connect you with your local community at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

Our Connecting Communities through Walking Webinar is available online. With presentations from a variety of speakers that will take you on a journey, starting right from your home environment and progressing on to local walk routes. The webinar is packed full of tips, signposting and project ideas to encourage residents to connect through walking.
